Difference between Eglu Cube Mk1 and Mk2
If you’re considering buying a used Eglu Cube and have read that your potential buy is either a MK1 or MK2 Eglu Cube…and wondered the difference…
…then this quick tip is for you:
Eglu Cube Mark 1
- first released 2007
- 4 wooden roosts
- black strip around the eggport compartment door makes for a snug fit
- no gap when door is closed
Eglu Cube Mark 2
- released 2016
- single wooden roost
- loose fitting eggport door
- said to have a gap when the door is closed, suggested this is for better ventilation
Hope this helps you better identify which of model of Eglu you might be buying if you’re in the market for a used coop.

Here are a few examples from our Market Scouts to get you going on your way:

At the price point and the acreage (although relatively small, compared…) – most viable opportunities tend to be in Scotland. And why not? How beautiful a territory and landscape it is!
Notwithstanding, neither England, Wales nor N.Ireland are lacking in such – but it’s a more patient game to find them.

The first is a refurb project and the second a complete renovation…so neither probably perfect. But worth looking at, and perhaps getting on the mailing lists of the respective agents, if you’re not on there already.

We found LHJ Property and Rees Richards to be good sources.
Here are a couple of examples from them:
- 3 Bed Equestrian Smallholding For Sale With Stables, Arena & 12 Acres of Paddocks in Carmarthen (£740K)
- 4 Bed Equestrian Smallholding For Sale With Stables, Manege and 5 Acres of Paddocks in Tregaron (£650K)
The first is a closer match for your criteria, but the second perhaps offers extra value for a lower price (*note: the latter has a holiday let).
Also, as an aside, this might help with pinpointing those Welsh-speaking localities (assuming you’d welcome the advice, if you don’t already know): List of Welsh areas by percentage of Welsh speakers
